The university vice chancellor discusses ways to enhance the quality of medical education with the Medical Faculty Accreditation Committee.

As part of the university’s commitment to establishing standards of quality and academic excellence, Dr. Fania Abdullah Al-Badri, the university vice chancellor, held an extensive meeting today with the Faculty of Medicine Accreditation Committee at the university director’s office to discuss ways to develop the academic and administrative performance of the college and enhance its readiness for institutional and program accreditation.
The committee was chaired by Dr. Fania Abdullah Al-Badri, Vice Chancellor of the University, and included Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin, Vice Chancellor Assistant , Dr. Ibrahim, a representative of the Medical Specialties Council, a group of specialists in medical education quality, and faculty and university leaders.
Dr. Fania Al-Badri opened the meeting by welcoming the committee members and affirming the university administration’s full support for everything that would advance the College of Medicine to become a local and regional model for quality medical education. She noted that the college represents a pillar of healthcare development in the country, owing to its highly qualified faculty and ambitious development plans.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin commended the steps taken by the Faculty of Medicine in developing its institutional structure, emphasizing the importance of integrating academic and administrative aspects to achieve full accreditation requirements. He called for the adoption of precise performance indicators to ensure continued development.
Dr. Ibrahim, from the Medical Specialties Council, also commended the Faculty’s commitment to developing its curricula and training its students. He noted that the Faculty of Medicine has made significant strides in meeting professional assessment standards and emphasized the need to continue strengthening the faculty’s ties with the healthcare sector to serve the interests of education and community service.
Dr. Samahir Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, gave a comprehensive presentation on the faculty’s current capabilities, which include well-equipped diagnostic and training laboratories, modern curricula that keep pace with global developments, and a comprehensive training program that combines theoretical and clinical aspects. She noted the faculty’s ongoing efforts to improve its educational outcomes in line with national and international standards.
Dr. Sarah, the faculty’s deputy dean, spoke about the faculty’s efforts to train academic staff and support scientific research through partnerships with research and medical institutions, emphasizing that the college works as a team to pursue excellence.
For his part, Professor Saif El-Nasr Mirghani, the university’s deputy vice chancellor , affirmed that the university will continue to provide the necessary technical and logistical support to enhance academic accreditation and implement the faculty’s digital transformation plans.
Dr. Musab, Director of the University’s Center for Research Excellence, praised the faculty’s vibrant research environment, noting its effective contribution to multidisciplinary research projects and the center’s commitment to supporting the faculty with funding and academic projects that contribute to raising the university’s ranking and academic standing.
For her part, Dr. Athar Mohammed Al-Baqer, Registrar at the Faculty of Medicine, explained the importance of developing the academic and administrative system to facilitate student registration and support procedures. She also noted the significant transformation of the faculty’s information system to keep pace with modern requirements.
Dr. Nadeem Mohammed, the faculty’s academic secretary, emphasized that the faculty’s educational programs are designed to meet the highest standards, noting that the curriculum development process was integrated with various academic departments, according to a strategic plan reviewed with relevant accreditation bodies.
Dr. Mortada Othman, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, discussed the importance of linking medical training to the local community and intensifying community service programs. He emphasized that the department works closely with health authorities to enhance direct interaction between students and the healthcare system.
A number of faculty members and members of the Faculty of Medicine’s Board also participated in the meeting, affirming their commitment to advancing the highest standards of accreditation and quality, calling for continued support for educational infrastructure and facilities.
The meeting concluded with a number of practical recommendations, including strengthening continuing education programs, improving assessment and monitoring systems, focusing on staff development, and modernizing infrastructure to ensure the college’s readiness to obtain full accreditation as soon as possible.
