
El Sheikh Abdallah El-Badri University in Nile River State held the First Research Investment Conference under the slogan “From Research to Investment… Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy,” under the patronage and honor of the university director, Dr. Fania Abdullah Al-Badri, with wide participation from academics, researchers, and representatives of official and community institutions.
The conference activities began with a speech by the university Vice Chancellor, who emphasized the importance of linking scientific research outcomes with development and investment issues, and enhancing the role of universities in building a national economy based on knowledge and innovation. She pointed out that the conference represents a practical step towards turning research ideas into productive projects with economic feasibility.
Following that, the representative of Sheikh Al-Bashri Abdallah Al-Badri, Mr. Omar Sheikh Al-Haj, delivered a speech in which he expressed his pride in the convening of this important scientific conference. He affirmed El Sheikh Abdallah El-Badri’s support and sponsorship of the education and scientific research journey, calling for the necessity of directing scientific research toward serving society and economic development, and enhancing partnerships that contribute to transforming knowledge into an effective productive force.
Dr. Naama Awad, the representative of the Hamad Al-Neel Organization, also delivered a speech addressing the role of organizations in supporting scientific research and strengthening partnerships with universities to achieve sustainable development.
The conference program included a number of scientific papers and specialized lectures, where Professor Al-Badri Al-Amin gave an introductory lecture on the concept of research investment and its importance. Professor Hassan Al-Sayem discussed the opportunities and challenges of investing in agricultural research. Dr. Muhammad Salah presented a study on the use of Moringa seeds to produce biodiesel fuel and value-added by-products, while Dr. Hashim Hasb Al-Rasool presented a paper titled “From Research to Application: Scientific Solutions to Industrial Technical Challenges.”
In the field of environment and water, Professor Rabab Sayed Ahmed presented a study on the detection of contaminants in groundwater wells using optical properties, while Dr. Babiker Mohamed discussed the role of the mining sector in the Sudanese economy. Dr. Amir Abdullah addressed the topic of smart investment in the Nile River state, reviewing the mechanisms and challenges. Student Shaimaa Mohamed Awad presented research on the effect of a certain plant in resisting malaria parasites, clearly emphasizing the role of students in applied scientific research.
At the conclusion of the sessions, Professor Ilham Sharif presented the final recommendations of the conference, which emphasized the necessity of supporting applied research, encouraging partnerships between universities and the public and private sectors, and preparing the legislative and financial environment to invest in the outcomes of scientific research.
The conference witnessed a distinguished official and academic attendance, including the representative of Sheikh Mr. Omar Sheikh Al-Haj, the director of the university hospital Dr. Mohamed Al-Badri, alongside the director of Shendi University and the university delegation, the administration and delegation of Nile Valley University, representatives of the security and administrative bodies in Berber locality, a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the deputy director of investment, in addition to a number of honored guests, researchers, university professors, and students.
The convening of this conference affirms the role of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Badri University in serving the community, enhancing research directed towards investment, and actively contributing to supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development.
